Work with us Get involved Become a trustee Become a trustee Help shape the decisions that steer our future. Trustees guide the Oral Health Foundation’s long-term direction. They help set priorities, challenge ideas, review progress and protect the charity’s assets – including our reputation, independence and impact. Our Board of Trustees comprises committed volunteers from diverse sectors and professions. Their role is to ask the right questions, debate plans, evaluate evidence, and make balanced decisions about our strategy and policies. They also ensure we meet our legal and regulatory responsibilities. What a trustee does As a trustee, you help to: Set the Oral Health Foundation’s strategic direction. Oversee major plans, projects and policies. Review reports and measure progress. Safeguard the charity’s finances, property, and reputation. Provide impartial advice and sound judgement. Ensure we comply with our governing documents and regulatory obligations. Trustees are collectively accountable for the charity's governance. Many media, policy and campaign decisions rely on trustee oversight. Interviews and partnership work may also require trustee-level approval or guidance. Availability and time commitment Most trustees volunteer approximately 6 to 10 days a year. Skills and experience We welcome trustees who can bring: Strategic thinking and good judgement. Experience from any sector or industry. Confidence with debate, challenge and decision-making. An interest in tackling significant issues with evidence and empathy. A collaborative mindset and clear communication. You don’t need to be a dental professional. Our trustees include people from business, academia, community leadership, public services, charity, communications and other backgrounds. Why become a trustee?
