Prepare your submission

Manufacturers must provide:

• Samples of the product.

• Details of formulation, technical specification, safety and quality assurance certification.

• All marketing claims (e.g., packaging text, adverts, website copy).

• Evidence to support each claim, such as clinical test, published research or consumer surveys

We can advise on the format and level of detail required.

Independent expert review

Your submission is reviewed by an independent panel of dental and academic experts. They examine whether the marketing claims are supported by reliable evidence and whether the wording is clear, fair and not misleading.

Outcome and next steps

There are four possible outcomes:

• Approved. The claims are supported, and the product can display the accreditation logo.

• Approved subject to modification. The product can be approved subject to minor modification of the claims as submitted.

• Further information needed. The panel requests additional or clearer supporting evidence.

• Not approved. The claims are not adequately supported and accreditation cannot be granted.

Full feedback is provided in every case.

Following approval

• Manufacturers receive electronic copies of the accreditation seal and logo usage guidelines.

• The logo can be used on the pack and in marketing materials for the agreed period.

• Any new claims or product changes must be reviewed to ensure accuracy.

Approval cannot be bought – it must be earned. The scheme is there to support responsible marketing and help consumers make informed choices with confidence.
