Smiles play a role in how we connect with others. They are part of communication, first impressions and everyday interactions. A smile can show warmth, kindness and interest.

Mouth problems can affect:

  • Eating with others.
  • Speaking clearly.
  • Joining in conversations.
  • Feeling relaxed in social situations.

For children, discomfort can affect school and play. It may make it harder to concentrate or join activities. For adults, it can affect work, confidence and social life.

Smiles also matter during important life moments, such as interviews, presentations and celebrations. Feeling comfortable can help people focus on the moment, not on their mouth.

Smile Month helps keep these issues visible. It encourages open conversations and practical steps people can take. It reminds people that support and advice are available.
